Yes!  All completed projects are eligible to enter.

7th Annual Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Bungalow Awards

Nomination Form

The 2011 Driehaus Awards call for nominations has begun!  You may nominate an entire home, a particular room or a small project within a room or on the exterior.  Projects may be nominated by the owner, a neighbor, friend or neighborhood association.  Any project completed within the last several years is eligible.  If you have submitted a project previously, but did not win, you are welcome to resubmit.  In order for a Bungalow to be nominated it must be certified by the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association (HCBA).  All rehabilitation projects must conform to the Historic Chicago Bungalow Design Guidelines. The award categories are detailed below:

 

  • Interior Restoration: accurately recovers the details and forms of the Chicago Bungalow
  • Interior Rehabilitation: demonstrates a contemporary use of space while maintaining the integrity and distinctive features of the structure
  • Exterior Rehabilitation: is consistent with the lines and look of the particular bungalow and those around it
  • Green Project: demonstrates the use of energy-efficient design and renovation while maintaining classic features--can be a landscape or garden project if it incorporates green elements such as native plants, permeable pavers, etc.
  • Small Project: preserves historic detail and form while improving one aspect of a room or the exterior at a cost of $5,000 or less

 

The first-place winner in each category will receive a $1,000 cash prize along with a handcrafted bronze plaque.

 

Submissions are due on Wednesday, November 2, 2011.  If selected as a finalist, applicants must be available for a judges’ visit on Friday, November 11 or Saturday, November 12.
