To mitigate flooding in finished basement, a DIY rain barrel system was installed: two for the house and two for the garage, accompanied by a downspout flowing into an underground french drain for the front garden. Additionally, native plants, vegetable and herb gardens were planted, and a compost bin was installed to supply organic nutrients to the garden.
