The Whole Home Electric (WHE) offering will help replace old or inefficient systems and appliances — whether they run on gas, propane, or electricity — with high-performance electric systems.
Upgrading will help you increase comfort at home, lower carbon emissions and improve air quality across our communities all while reducing your overall energy costs.
The Chicago Bungalow Association in partnership with ComEd provide customers with free home energy services and improvements, if eligible.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Home is Single-Family or Two-Flat

Owner

Located in ComEd service territory

Income at or below Annual Median Income (check chart below for Chicago)

Heating and cooling systems are 5 years or older
-
Willing to fuel-switch (change home appliances to electric)
POTENTIAL UPGRADES MAY INCLUDE:

Electric air source heat pump (provides energy efficient heating and central air conditioning)

Heat pump water heater
-
Electric induction stove
-
Heat pump clothes dryer
-
Electrical improvements, including service upgrades

May also include weatherization services

Year-round comfort - Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) provide heating and cooling, ensuring comfortable indoor temperatures throughout the year.
Increased home value - ASHP installation can enhance home value due to energy efficiency and eco-friendly features.
PROCESS:
Participation is easy and FREE
*Please note: Advancement through each stage depends on eligibility requirments and assessment results. Not all applicants will qualify for every step of the offering.

Initial Eligbility Review - We will review your application to determine whether you meet the initial eligbility requirments

If eligible, you will move on to a screening call

Screening Call - A Whole Home Electric representative will contact you to review your application and confirm program qualifications

Applicants who meet screening requirments will be invited to schedule a full assessment
-
Some applicants may not qualify to continue after this step.

Full Home Assessment - A comprehesnive assessment is completed to evalute your home, confirm eligibility, determine which upgrades or service you may qualify for, and preview your estimated savings for any of your gas appliances that switch to electric

Eligiblity for specific upgrades is determined during this stage

some applicants may be found ineligible based on assessment results

Receive Your Project Plan - If approved, you will receive a customized project plan to convert your heating and cooling system to high efficient heat pumps, at no cost to you. Upgrades may include other appliance upgrades and weatherization services

Installation & Upgrades - A ComEd Service Provider will install your home's FREE energy efficiency upgrades
