Project Description
The 1924 front metal “Marquee” overhang of the Glapa family bungalow needed complete restoration after 90 years of rainwater leakage and nesting squirrels. Made of galvanized sheet metal, stained glass, and copper added during previous repairs, the solution was to restore the structure of this unique decorative element with new chains into the eaves, a new metal framework to replace the old wood, and new sheet metal. The bottom piece was reproduced and the old paint around the stained glass was stripped, primed and repainted to complete the overhang, making it functional to protect from Chicago’s extreme weather conditions.
