Project Description

When the Aranzas moved into their bungalow, the house felt like a dark tomb. Completing most of the work themselves, they vaulted the living room ceiling, following the lines of the roof, to let in sunlight from the front dormer window. The rest of the attic was converted into an upstairs bedroom and half bath. The arched entryway between the front room and dining room was removed, allowing light to flow into the dining room. For even more light flow, French doors replaced the solid doors between the entry hall and front room, the dining room and kitchen, and the kitchen and stairs leading up to the bedroom. Their son gifted them historic, Angel Gilded, leaded art glass windows, which replaced the vinyl front windows. The Aranzas also restored all the original floors and woodwork.
