Project Description
Angela Finney rehabbed her cramped bungalow kitchen while retaining the original footprint and 1920’s personality of the room. To give the illusion of more space and to let in natural light, the ceilings were vaulted, following the lines of the hipped roof. The attic window acts as a skylight, and two floor joists kept for structural purposes were wrapped in pine to give the illusion of chunky beams. New cabinetry and counters were installed, and a small rolling island was added in the center. Original features were preserved to create an updated kitchen that still retains the character of a historic bungalow, such as the woodwork, floors, transom, and washboard sink. Angela, who designed the kitchen herself, even converted the ice delivery door in the pantry into a spice cabinet.
