Project Description

Maureen’s family kitchen refresh is the perfect example of big ideas for small kitchen spaces on a tight budget. The main issue was the layout in this 12x12 space with 5 doorways. The key was removing an 8 foot radiator running the entire length of the wall, and trading it for a smaller radiator from a scrap yard. This allowed space for a new sink, a new dishwasher that no longer had to be rolled over to the original sink and hooked to the faucet, a small island, and a corner for the large refrigerator, clearing the once blocked pathway to the adjoining breakfast room. Removing the doors to the breakfast room and pantry was a game changer, opening up the space incredibly.  With 4 small children and a love for food, the Reilly’s can now enjoy the space where they spend most of their time, all within the original footprint of their home!
